We have not yet published the Indian eligibility rules on this site — each one gets checked against the authority that issues it before it goes up, and that work is not finished. The naturalisation waitlist — 2027 to 2031
Many Indian families in the UK will become British citizens over the next few years. India does not allow dual citizenship — the premise this whole site rests on — so becoming British has consequences on the Indian side of a family’s paperwork, usually a surrender certificate and, for families who want to keep visa-free access to India, OCI cards for those who qualify.
What we are not telling you here. The exact requirement and its deadline, and precisely what it means for each family member, are not published on this site yet, because we have not finished verifying them. What we can say is that this has a lead time, and that families reliably find out about it later than they would have liked.
So: tell us roughly when, and we will come to you when it matters.
